It’s coming to the end of the year, and what a year it has been! I hope you and your family are keeping well.
As many of you would have experienced, we have, since July this year, been able to provide most services, both urgent and routine dental care, subject to COVID19 precautions.
We now have a new mechanical ventilation system in the surgery for air changes to occur before seeing the next patient, apart from the COVID screening protocols before appointments. You will also see us wearing higher PPE during some procedures and following more rigorous cross-infection control routines. Most treatment plans, estimates and payment receipts are now electronically sent. We would encourage you to update your email address and mobile number with us to further enable us to communicate with you more effectively and safely.
In the reception area, we have an air filtration unit, and a new Infra-red heater to heat better (should we need to open the windows to promote ventilation). The screen at reception, hand disinfection points and socially distanced seating arrangements remain, although it is very rare that we have more than one patient in the reception area at any one time (due to planned spacing between appointments). We encourage payments by non-contact methods (eg Bank transfer / Direct debits) but should you need to touch our card machine, we use disposable barrier sheets. Unfortunately reading material and refreshment drinks can still not be provided in the reception area, as they are a COVID transmission risk.
Considering the cold and wet weather, we have now decided to keep the main door unlocked (although appointments are by prior booking only) but have access control on the first floor landing. Should you ring the bell there, and need to wait, please have a seat on the chair provided.
One of our focus areas will now be remote consultations, where we can initiate history taking and provide basic advice over either a telephone or a video call as appropriate. These will hopefully will be able provide reassurance and advice to those of you who wish to speak to us from your home. This service is currently free for all registered patients (we need an email address to send you details of the appointment)
